stormy weather

So we all laugh at authors who...

... think they can query via Twitter. (Is that a twery? A quitter?)

BUT... if an agent puts out a call for a particular genre ON TWITTER and you check their submission guidelines and they don't say whether they take m/m and you Twitter them back for clarification, shouldn't they respond? After all, they opened the door for using Twitter. How come they get to use the nifty and efficient new medium, but we can't?

I'm not sure if I should be irritated or embarrassed. At the moment, I'm leaning toward irritated.

And while I'm in rant mode (unusual for me) why don't agents say on their guidelines if they take m/m or not? I think they're afraid someone will accuse them of homophobia, when all they're doing is wasting both our times.

I know agents hold all the cards, but they could save themselves time if they would just be more specific.
