Ice, Ice, Baby

Now that I believe Spring is actually here, I'm posting a couple of pictures I took earlier in the Winter.

This one is a weird phenomenon. The water in the creek comes around a curve and it must actually flow in a circle in order to have created this perfect ice sphere. I've never seen this before.

The other happens each year, but never fails to amaze me. The water in the creek is unfrozen, but the water falling from the pipe is a solid mass.

Both excellent shots, but wow, looks cold!

Does the water drip out of those pipes? Is that why it freezes like stalactites?

Cold? We had one of the mildest winters evah. ;-D I take it you're not from around these parts, eh?

Yes, it trickles out, freezes, then trickles some more until it's a big honkin' icicle that will eventually either melt slowly or just break off under its own weight.

Thanks for commenting.

Nope - my bougainvillea hates it when it freezes.
